The IN2CCAM project is hosting the Vigo Living Lab Awareness Event on Wednesday, 13 November. This event marks the third in a series of six Living Lab events, following successful gatherings in Tampere and Trikala. Each event highlights real-world progress in the development of Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) technologies within urban settings, providing an invaluable platform to engage with local stakeholders, share insights, and demonstrate practical applications.
Opening the event, the Mayor of Vigo and the city’s Mobility and Safety Area Manager will share an overview of Vigo’s forward-looking initiatives and challenges in transportation, offering insights into the city’s latest advancements to enhance urban mobility.
As a key highlight, Montse Estaca, Head of the Telematics Area at DGT, will present Connected Vehicle DGT 3.0, an innovative platform by Spain’s traffic authority that connects all mobility ecosystem players, delivering real-time traffic information directly to road users. This platform represents a success story in leveraging data for greater connectivity, safer mobility, and seamless traffic flow.
Jose Manuel Martinez of ETRA – Galicia, the event’s host and IN2CCAM partner, will introduce our project and its mission to accelerate CCAM technologies and services that can transform traffic management and urban mobility. He will delve into the specifics of the Vigo Living Lab and its effort to facilitate data exchange among vehicles, infrastructure, pedestrians, and cyclists. By creating a shared, virtual map, the Vigo Living Lab enhances mutual awareness for all connected users. He will also present a Use Case focusing on traffic management strategies that utilize Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) interactions. This use case aims to regulate traffic lights dynamically to improve the efficiency of urban networks and optimize the performance of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CCAVs), especially when operating in fleets.
Participants will have the opportunity to observe these use cases in action on Vigo’s Gran Via, where real-life testing provides tangible insights into how these technologies enhance traffic flow and safety. In this dynamic environment, attendees can ask questions, provide feedback, and gain a hands-on understanding of the CCAM solutions under development.
These awareness events are crucial to the IN2CCAM project’s success. They bring together local stakeholders, project partners, and the broader community to showcase advancements, share experiences, and exchange best practices learned in each Living Lab. The ultimate goal is to establish IN2CCAM as a leading initiative in enhancing urban traffic management and safety through cutting-edge mobility technologies.
The next IN2CCAM Living Lab Awareness Event will take place in Quadrilatero in January 2025. Stay tuned for outcomes from the Vigo event and details on our upcoming ones!
